Konstantin Koltsov, a former professional ice hockey player from Belarus and the ex-partner of tennis player Aryna Sabalenka, has died by apparent suicide at the age of 42. Koltsov's death was confirmed by his former NHL team, the Pittsburgh Penguins, and by Salavat Yulaev, the Russian club he played for after leaving the NHL. Sabalenka, the 2023 Australian Open women's singles champion, expressed her grief on social media, thanking those who have supported her following the death of her ex-boyfriend.

Koltsov and Sabalenka kept their romance relatively private, but they were known to have been in a relationship for several years. Koltsov, a defenseman, played in the NHL for the Penguins, Edmonton Oilers, New York Islanders, and Montreal Canadiens. He also represented Belarus internationally, participating in two Winter Olympics and several World Championships.
