From Kerri Walsh Jennings becoming the first woman to win three consecutive gold medals to Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh Jennings epic rivalry with, the United States has a long and successful history in beach volleyball. Heading into the 2024 Paris Olympics, several American pairs are hoping to continue that tradition.
Kelly Cheng and Sara Hughes are the leading pair for Team USA at the upcoming Olympics. Cheng, who previously competed in Tokyo 2020, is a former NCAA champion and has been a member of the U.S. national team since 2019. Hughes is a two-time Olympian and won a bronze medal in London 2012.
Other American pairs to watch include Alix Klineman and April Ross, who won a silver medal in Tokyo 2020, and Taryn Kloth and Kristen Nuss. Kloth and Nuss are the reigning AVP champions and have been one of the most consistent pairs on the international circuit in recent years.
The United States will face stiff competition in Paris from other top beach volleyball nations such as Brazil, Australia, and Canada. However, the American pairs have the experience and talent to contend for medals and continue the country's success in the sport.
