Angels Joyce Placed On Injured List

Angels' Joyce Placed on Injured List

Rookie Right-hander to Miss Time with Ulnar Neuritis

Anaheim, California - The Los Angeles Angels have placed rookie right-handed pitcher Ben Joyce on the 15-day injured list with ulnar neuritis. The move was made prior to Saturday's 6-2 loss to the Seattle Mariners.

Joyce's Status

According to Angels host and reporter for Ball Sports West Erica Weston, the numbness and tingling in Joyce's fingers has mostly subsided, but he has not yet been cleared to resume throwing. The Angels are hopeful that Joyce will be able to return to the mound within the next two weeks.

In his first season with the Angels, Joyce has emerged as a promising young reliever. The 25-year-old has appeared in 14 games, posting a 3.24 ERA and 21 strikeouts in 22.1 innings pitched.

With Joyce sidelined, the Angels will look to other relievers to step up in his absence. Right-handers Mike Mayers and Aaron Slegers are among the candidates to fill Joyce's role in the bullpen.
